Envisioning the Future of
St. James the Greater Parish
Kickoff Workshop December 7th
10:00 AM – 4:15 PM (Mass to Follow @4:30 PM)
Dear Fellow Parishioners – Fr. Rajpaul has mentioned over the last couple of weeks that we will be having a Parish Retreat on December 7th. We would like to clarify the objective, format and logistics for this parish event on December 7th.
Over the last year or so, as a parish we have talked a lot about the future of the parish and our mission in the Dogtown community. While lots of ideas have been discussed and we have taken several steps to prepare the parish for its future, we still hear from many parishioners that they are not being heard or don’t agree with the ideas and plans that are being discussed. At this point we feel we need to develop a plan for the future built by the parishioners. The leaders of the four councils have asked Father to allow us to lead a 3-4-month process to develop a plan to take the parish forward.
To start the process Fr. Rich Bockskopf will be leading a kickoff workshop on December 7th. This workshop is open to every parishioner and we would like everyone to attend. We understand we are asking everyone to commit the better part of Saturday in December to this session, but we think it is important to get this process started before the end of the year. To prepare for session, we will be asking everyone for their input.
Based on this change, the session will still be held on December 7th. We will start gathering at 10 AM and the session will be starting at 10:30 AM sharp in the School Cafeteria. The workshop will end at 4:15 PM and Mass will follow at 4:30 in church. Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks will be served. There will be no 8 AM mass on Sunday, December 8th, but there will be a 10:30 AM Mass that Sunday.
Due to this session on December 7th, there will be not Parish Community Meeting on December 1st.
We hope this clarifies this session and we hope you will join us for part or all of the session.
